Get Off The Roads! May 9-10 2014

Course Update – 27 April

Many of you have been asking about course conditions and the snow pack. Reasonable questions given the snow we have had this year. You can see some of the photos I took on Easter Sunday on the course on the Trail Run Manitoba blog at http://trailrunmanitoba.com/spruce-woods-trail-update/. Further, the ice-jams that were impacting the Assiniboine River in the area have subsided and the closure of Hwy 5 has been long lifted. I don’t foresee any weather impacts on the course at this point. According to Environment Canada, the sub-freezing nights are finally behind us!

New for 2014

Besides the new name (formerly the Manitoba Trail Marathon & 50/50), there is a new event for 2014 – Manitoba’s first 100 mile trail race!

All the race day info in one handy place!

Download the Race Day Handbook; chock full of good stuff! (version 1.05 – 26 April 2014).

The Manitoba Trail Marathon & 50/50 (and now a half marathon too!)Spruce Woods Ultra race is unlike any other event in the province. First, it’s tough. Although it’s a run in the park, it is unlike any other run in the park you’ve seen in Manitoba. OK, so it’s not ‘up-a-mountain’ tough like what you’ll find out west, but with over 1800 feet of climbing in 26.2 miles and a few more in the 50km, that Bishop Grandin bridge you might have ran on Father’s Day will be put in it’s place like the minor bump that it is.

Do you think Pheidippides had some smooth road to run on? No! He was out on the trails!

Second, tough as it is, it is fun on the trails. This is a race put on for runners by runners. No worries about traffic unless a herd of deer happen to cross the trail in front of you.

Join us on May 9-10 for a fantastic race experience that will make you fall in love with trail running. Register, train, race, smile. Easy right?
